What We Offer

As both steward of this medicine and practitioner, the following are offered in service to the tradition. (Telehealth appointments are available for those needing a remote option.)

Acupuncture Treatments

Acupuncture Treatments consist of the placement of hair-thin, single-use needles at specific, meaningful points on the body to create the therapeutic movement of Qi, a concept that is central to Oriental medicine and commonly defined as “life force”. In essence, Qi is the dynamic energy that supports all vital human processes. As a practitioner, I use various diagnostic techniques to determine a treatment plan of synergistic points, unique to you and your constitution. Herbal recommendations, Nutritional advice and simple Qi Gong practices are included in your acupuncture treatments.

Herbal Rx Consultations

Herbal Rx Consultations are an in-depth and focused way to address both long-standing and acute conditions. Customized combinations of classical and modern Chinese herbal formulas are available at the office or by special order. No needles are involved. This can be a gentle way to begin treatment or a way to supplement acupuncture or nutritional therapies. The herbs are food-grade and can often be taken as a capsule or tablet for convenience, made into an aromatic tea for enjoyment or ordered as a ready-made decoction. I use only reputable sources that adhere to cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Processes). Nutritional advice and simple Qi Gong practices are included in your herbal consults.

Nutritional Therapy

Nutritional Therapy appointments are based on the foundations of dietetics with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In these sessions, you will begin a new relationship with and gain a better understanding of the inherent therapeutics of the food you already eat. Food is our first medicine, after all, and learning how to choose and prepare foods for your unique constitution is a simple starting point. Meal planning and sample menus are included as you discover how to nourish your whole being.

NADA Protocol

Auricular Acupuncture, also known as ear acupuncture, is widely used as an adjunct in conventional treatments for addiction, post-traumatic stress and to support mental health, as established by the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA). You can read more about this organization at acudetox.com. If you are currently working with a mental health professional and would like additional support in your recovery, I am trauma-informed, culturally aware and trained in the NADA Protocol. We can work in partnership with your counselor or therapist to enrich your healing experience.

Citizen Consult & Coaching

These custom coaching sessions, which are steeped in the principles and applied philosophy of Oriental medicine, are a good way to start if you are unsure of which of the above will best suit your needs — or if you just aren’t into acupuncture and herbs. These sessions are conversational in nature and designed to help you find simple lifestyle changes, modifications or new practices that can create ripple effects of wellbeing in body, mind and spirit. We’ll discuss such key concepts as Qi, the Five Elements and the Dao and how they are already active in your life. You will also discover ways to cultivate greater awareness, and renew or clarify your sense of purpose.
